Featured Plant: River Birch

The River Birch was named for its habitat along the streams and rivers of eastern North America. It is an excellent specimen tree for homes, parks, and open spaces. The cinnamon-colored, exfoliating bark of the River Birch is spectacular in the winter. Its love for moist soil makes it ideal for low-lying areas and eroding banks. This native beauty belongs with other wetland natives such as Willow, Sweetgum, and Sugar Maple. Be sure to follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment. Pruning should be done in the winter followed by application of a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

Most people are familiar with the term 'landscaping', but may not be familiar with 'hardscaping', which describes the use of concrete products designed to serve a landscaping function.

Two studies, by Clemson University and the University of Florida, found that hardscaping contributes to higher resale values in single-family homes.

Since the return on investment is contingent on the quality of the hardscaping job, it's important that you find the right hardscaping contractor for your project and use high-quality materials like segmented retaining walls and interlocking concrete pavers.

When it comes to your home, accept nothing less then the best. Our landscape craftsmen are ICPI Certified Concrete Paver Installers as well as NCMA Certified Segemented Retaining Wall Installers. Remember, at Biafore Landscape Development, we are creating your outdoor experience!
